Good Thursday

Jesus dies on Preparation day,the 14th of Nisan with the Passover lambs, fulfilling Sign of Jonah (three days and three nights) exactly.

(Exo 12:6) 'You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight. .NASB

The Sabbath that was approaching was the high Sabbath of the first day of Festival of Unleavened bread which occurs on the 15 on Nisan.

 If this day is to be called good anything it would most appropriately be known as Good Thursday

(Lev 23:6) 'Then on the fifteenth day of the same

 month there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the

LORD; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.

(Lev 23:7) 'On the first day you shall have a holy convocation;

 you shall not do any laborious work.

(Lev 23:8) 'But for seven days you shall present an offering

 by fire to the LORD. On the seventh day is a holy convocation;

you shall not do any laborious work.'" NASB

There were 2 Sabbaths in a row.

For our Catholic brothers and sisters realize this is something

the church acknowledges and the Pope has spoken on.

 "In effect, Pope Benedict said, for John, Jesus dies on the

cross at precisely the same moment in which the Paschal

 lambs are being sacrificed, thus bringing together the death

 of Jesus with the sacrifice of the lambs.  “However, this

means that “He died the day before Passover and therefore

 He could not personally celebrate the Passover meal,”

the Pope noted."
